Author Cathy Stantion talks about the subject of her book “Food Margins: Lessons from an Unlikely Grocer,” published by the University of Massachusetts Press, in the Fall 2024 New Beet. Cathy, who teaches anthropology and environmental studies at Tufts University in Boston and lives in Wendell, is proud to be a member of six co-ops, including the Franklin Community Co-op. Says Cathy, “I think more eaters— especially those who want to support so-called alternative food ventures—need to have a clearer sense of why it’s so hard to make really deep change in how we get our food.”
